Mk 6:7-13
Our Mission
7 Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.
8 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”
12 They went out and preached that people should repent. 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
It's a big wide wonderful world we live in, filled with with people ranging from a close relationship with Jesus to none at all. The mission given to the Twelve is still as relevant to as it was when Jesus first sent them out. Who is going to introduce Jesus to the multitudes, or even to the family next door, if not each one of us who are blessed to be believers. It's not a case of "Let Joe do it" but of what am I going to do about it? Through simple conversations, letters, volunteering and prayer, we can carry out the mission to evangelize, that is to lead people to realize there is a God who knows and loves them and who is eager to become part of their lives. What is God asking me to do to make him known and loved?

Dear Jesus, as you sent out the Twelve to bring the Good News to others, send me to do the same wherever and however I can. Amen.
