Mt 8:23-27
Jesus Calms the Storm
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
When things are not going our way or when "storms" seem to engulf us. Jesus reminds us that he is with us and there is nothing to fear. We've heard this many times, but there is always a freshness to it as we apply it to our current "storm". It took the apostles time to learn not to fear, even the lesson of this dramatic rescue rescue had to be learned up and till the time of the Resurrection and beyond. How many times in our own lives have we panicked, been reassured, and fallen into panic again? Jesus never tires of calming our storms. May we continue to learn not to panic but to trust.
Bro. Rene
Dear Jesus, strengthen my faith and trust in you. Amen.
