Go, Proclaim

 Mt 10:1-7-images1

 Mt 10:1-7

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve

10 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.

Our Gospel reading today reminds us of our call, our mission, as apostles to help spread the Good News, just as the original Twelve.  Yes, you and I, not Joe or Mary next door or down the street. And Jesus tells us to go to the "lost sheep." The assignment is not easy. We can begin by prayer for guidance: who, how and when. A delicate task, but if we hold back, who will do it? From the Apostles to preachers and teachers through the centuries, this commission has been taken seriously and has worked. It can work for us; let's give it a shot.

Bro. Rene

Dear Jesus, help me to implement your command to go and proclaim your Word by my words and actions. Amen.
