The Lord's Prayer

Luke 11: 1-4

 Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer

11 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

He said to them, “When you pray, say:

“‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.’”

Most of us are familiar with The Our Father, one of the first prayers we learned, but this brief version might startle us, or it may help us get to the essence of what we have been praying since our youth. it's all here in three short, succinct and refreshing verses. Even without "your will be done on earth as it is in heaven", and "deliver us from evil", we still have the prayer we love so much and use so often. Let's use this version today several times so that it sinks deep into our hearts.

Bro. Rene

Dear Jesus, thank you for this short but powerful form of the prayer you taught us and want us to pray. Help us to incorporate it into our prayers today. Amen.
