Luke 12:35-38
Watchfulness
35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak.
As we approach the end of the Liturgical Year, Jesus reminds us to remain vigilant, to be "on deck" for whatever he may be calling us to do. "Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning." (Lk 12: 35) As we begin this day, we have no idea what lies ahead, what need we might have to fulfill, but we are to be ready for it. We are to put ourselves at God's disposal, willing to lay aside our plans in favor of his. Our morning prayer takes its cue from Mary's, "Be it done to me according to your word." (Lk 1: 38). Let us be watchful and willing, using our prayer time to dispose us be watchful and ready.
Bro. Rene
Dear God, as I begin this day, help me to open my mind and heart to take up whatever task you ask of me willingly and joyfully. Amen.
