The Spirit of Truth

 

 John 16:12-15

 When The Spirit of Truth Comes

¹² “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. ¹³ But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. ¹⁴ He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. ¹⁵ All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

(NB. There was no slice of Daily Bread yesterday because I was in the hospital (turned out all was well...just a precautionary measure). When I tried the internet at home, I found it was down for some updating. Evidently it came back during the night.). 

Our final Gospel before the Ascension, tomorrow's celebration... We have been under the guidance of the Holy Spirit for 2,000 years and as history shows us, we wouldn't be here today without the presence of the Spirit. He makes known the will of the Father and Jesus and gives us the grace to put it into practice. Yes, it would be wonderful to have Jesus in person preaching from town to town, country to country, but instead he has commissioned us under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to continue his work. Let us respond and carry it out as best we can.

Dear Jesus, you came to "set the ball rolling" and gave us your Spirit to guide us.   Help us to carry out your work faithfully, confidently and lovingly, just as you did. Amen.
