Mark 10:28-31
A hundred Fold
28 Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
Jesus reminds us that to be his disciple, we must "leave everything". Not an easy thing to do as we might have discovered during our Lenten Journey. It takes a lifetime of 'letting go", of gradual purification of motives and actions, of major failures and slight gains. Yet, we do not cave in but keep trying. We are in Ordinary Time now, a long section of the Liturgical Year to put into practice what we might have learned during Lent and the Paschal Season. Let us forge ahead, encouraging one another and relying on the Holy Spirit to accompany us on this life-giving journey.

Dear God, following Jesus requires commitment and grace. Help me to put my trust in you and not relent in my efforts to leave all behind and follow you as faithfully as I can. Amen.
