Matthew 19:13-15
The Little Children and Jesus
13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.
We adults might think that we have lost our childlike view of the world as daily atrocities mount and our interactions with others reveal self-centeredness, duplicity, and disregard of the rights and gifts of our neighbor. Children are spontaneous, open and freely express their needs, likes or dislikes. We can imagine the smile on Jesus' face as he placed his hands on these children and prayed for them. How do we treat our own children or those of others? How can I readjust my jauniced outlook on life to that of a child? How can I let Jesus bless me today?Bro. Rene
Dear Jesus, let me shed the callouses that are making me cynical or bitter, and regain the attitude of a trusting, loving child. Amen.
