Food For Eternity

John 6:51 The Living Bread From Heaven (brown)

 John 6:51-58

 Remaining In Jesus

51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

We usually eat three meals a day, day after day. Our hunger is endless. If such is the case with our physical hunger, what about our spiritual hunger? Jesus has provided us with the Bread of  Life, his own flesh and blood under the appearance of bread and wine, a tangible way of satisfying our spiritual hunger. Partaking of this food enables him to remain in us and we in him, in an intimacy that deepens and nourishes our relationship with him. It is truly the food we need for what can be and often is a dry and arduous journey. Jesus also pledges that this Bread is the key to eternal life with him and whoever eats it will be raised on the last day to live with him in Eternity. Whoever eats this Bread REMAINS with Jesus in this life and in the life to come. May we eat this Bread as often as we can as we journey day by day to the Eternal Life .

Bro. Rene

Dear Jesus, thank you for this heavenly food. May I be blessed to eat of it as often as I can. Amen.
