Teach What Iss Right

Mathew 5: 17-19

Christ Fulfills the Law

17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

In these three short verses, Jesus challenges us not to be swayed by the drift of the times, but to hold steadfastly to the pillars of what is right and what God asks of us.  It means "going against the popular flow" but is what fully satisfies and what keeps us in line with what God wants for us.  Teachers have a huge obligation to remain faithful to what Jesus taught and what hopefully has been preserved though the teaching authority of the Church.  Time and time again, Councils have met to clarify or reiterate the truth and we trust that the Holy Spirit continues to keep us on the right path. "Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with the fire of your divine love and truth!"
