 Matthew 19:13-15

The Little Children and Jesus

¹³ Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.

¹⁴ Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” ¹⁵ When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

A beautiful picture of children smiling in the arms of Jesus, feeling his warmth, kindness and love: a perfect rendering of what our relationship with Jesus should be. We should feel comfortable, happy and confident in his loving embrace as  did these children. He welcomes them and us into his life, even onto his lap! What hold us back?

Dear Jesus, help me to return to the innocence and trust of a child and find peace in your loving and welcoming embrace. Amen.
