Reading The Signs

 Luke 21:29-33

His Words Are Eternal

29 He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. 30 When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. 31 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.

32 “Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

As we look at the barren branches of our trees these days we are reminded that the things of this world are not meant to last forever; we  live in a temporary  world, as much as we like to do all we can to preserve it or improve the status quo. We do not like endings, but the promise of the better things to come enables us to bear with the stripping down of leaves and the short dark days of winter. In our spiritual lives, there is an Autumnal season as our readings of THE  LAST THINGS have been reminding us. May we not fight what is and is to be, but accept it as we move deeper into the starkness of these Autumnal days..

Bro Rene

Dear God,  open my eyes and heart to receive the message and hidden beauty of these cold, dark Autumnal Days.
