The Lesson of Tabor

The magnificent Transfiguration of Jesus brings us to our knees as it did for Peter, James and John, for not only do we see a preview of the post-resurrection glorified Jesus we also see him as the bridge between the Old Law and the New; we hear the Father again acknowledge him as his Son along with his admonition to "listen to him," and we catch a glimpse of  what awaits us when, as the Preface for today's Mass states we see "how in the Body of the whole Church is to be fulfilled what so wonderfully shone forth first in its Head."  We too shall be glorified in body as was Jesus. It is good for us to take time to "be there" with the stunned disciples, to listen to Jesus and to ponder what yet awaits us in the life to come. Let us relish our time on Tabor today and allow the fruit of these reflections to result in a transformation of our behavior.
